We’ve got to be honest here. Trick and treating or parties at Halloween is not for everyone. And that’s perfectly ok. Not everyone is thrilled to go knocking on some stranger’s door. Especially if you have social anxiety.
If trick or treating is way out of your comfort zone, you probably just want to stay inside by yourself and not answer the door to anyone knocking, right? Well, I have some ideas for you to enjoy at home by yourself.
Binge-watch scary movies/horror movies all night
Personally, I hate scary movies, and I tend to avoid them at all costs, because I get paranoid, lol. But, I know other people love scary movies, especially around Halloween. Grab your favorite cozy blanket, a hot cup of cocoa and settle down for a movie night either by yourself or invite your best friend over.
Just because you are an introvert or have social anxiety, doesn’t necessarily mean that you don’t want to be around people. But, the fact that you get to control who you are around and how many people are around you makes a huge difference.
Here are some great ideas:
- Adam’s Family series
- American Horror Story
- Bates Motel
- Blair Witch Project
- Children of the Corn
- Friday the 13th series
- Gravity Falls
- Halloween series
- Halloween Town series
- Hemlock Grove
- Hocus Pocus
- Monster House
- Mr. Jones
- Nightmare on Elm Street
- Over the Garden Wall
- Penny Dreadful
- The Babadook
- The Den
- The Fly
- The Fourth Kind
- The X-Flies
Cozy up and get watching!
Go on a haunted house tour
Grab a friend and invite him or her to go on a haunted house tour. If you are not a fan of a lot of people or large groups, this is perfect for you. Haunted house tours are definitely a way to get that adrenalin going, but without getting entirely out of your comfort zone.
Plus, going with a few friends you always get each other pumped more, rather than going alone, right? Most haunted house tours offer a history of some sort, so if you are in the mood for learning, this is a definite must-do.
Prank the trick or treaters
Do you know the story of the Marauders from Harry Potter? They loved themselves some pranks, didn’t they? If you really dislike strangers knocking on your door, scaring them away is a great way to keep you occupied and keep them from coming back.
Feel like turning your apartment or house into a full-blown haunted house? Here’s your chance. The goal is for the trick or treaters to run away before they even get close to your door. Have fun coming up with creative ways to run away strangers.
Read a book/read ghost stories
Do you know any good Halloween books? Or if you feel like scaring yourself sh*tless on Halloween night, start reading some of those ghost stories you always see on social media. How about reading that story of the house that turned out to have a hidden room in the wall?
If you don’t plan on getting any sleep that night, this is definitely something that will get your adrenalin going.
Bake some Halloween treats for yourself
I love making some fun and delicious Halloween snacks and treats. It’s ok to indulge once in a while, yes? It’s a special occasion after all.
These are some of my favorite recipes to make for Halloween:
Have you figured out the pattern yet? I loooove me some chocolate. I can’t help myself, ok?
Decorating your house for Christmas
Oh yes, you heard me. If you really don’t feel like celebrating Halloween, you can simply start decorating for Christmas.
Find all your Christmas decorations and ornaments, put on some Christmas carols and start decorating. I guarantee it will be fun to do this on Halloween. Just to be spiteful.
Make yourself a scary Halloween drink
Feel like making a drink to go with your movie night? Go for it. There are a lot of fun Halloween drinks out there.
Some of my personal favorites are:
To be honest, I’m not really into drinks and cocktails. I much prefer the darker side of beers and straight Whisky. Those are my kinds of drinks. However, once in a while I can drink a cocktail if I’m feeling fancy.
How do you prefer celebrating Halloween? Do you have social anxiety? Let me know in the comments below…
